Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Thesio iOS application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Thesio ("we," "us," or "our").

You must be at least 17 years old to use Thesio. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.

2. Description of Service

Thesio is a professional networking platform that uses AI-powered matching to connect students and professionals. The App allows you to create a professional profile, discover other users, send and receive connection requests, match with other users, and communicate with your matches via in-app messaging.

Thesio is available exclusively on iOS devices through the Apple App Store.

3. Account Registration and Sign In

Thesio uses Sign in with Apple as its sole authentication method. By creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete profile information

  • Keep your profile information current and up to date

  • Not impersonate any person or misrepresent your professional credentials

  • Maintain the security of your Apple ID, which is used to access Thesio

  • Notify us immediately at hello@jointhesio.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you submit to Thesio, including your profile information, bio, photos, and messages ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant Thesio a limited, non-exclusive license to use, store, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of operating the App and providing you with the service.

You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the right to submit all User Content you post

  • Your User Content does not violate the rights of any third party

  • Your profile information is truthful and not misleading

5. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use Thesio for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law

  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information on your profile

  • Harass, threaten, intimidate, or abuse other users

  • Send unsolicited messages or spam to other users

  • Attempt to circumvent or manipulate the matching algorithm

  • Scrape, crawl, or extract data from Thesio using automated tools

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App

  • Use the App to collect information about other users for purposes outside the App

  • Create multiple accounts or impersonate another person

  • Upload content that is illegal, obscene, defamatory, or infringes any third-party rights

  • Engage in any conduct that could damage, disable, or impair the App or our servers

Violation of these prohibitions may result in immediate account termination.

6. Usage Credits

Thesio operates a usage credits system that governs how much you can interact with the App each day. Your daily usage resets at midnight UTC. Usage credits can be earned through in-app actions including accepting connection requests, messaging matches, and personalizing your profile.

Future versions of the App may offer the ability to purchase additional usage credits or subscribe to a premium tier. Any such purchases will be processed through Apple's in-app purchase system and governed by Apple's payment terms.

7. Matching and Discovery

Thesio uses AI-powered technology from Anthropic, PBC to generate match recommendations based on your profile information. The quality of your matches depends on the completeness and accuracy of your profile. Thesio does not guarantee any specific number of matches or connections.

You may opt out of appearing in other users' discovery feeds at any time from Settings → Privacy → Appear in Discovery.

8. Blocking and Reporting

You may block other users at any time from Settings → Privacy → Blocked Users. Blocked users cannot view your profile or send you connection requests.

If you encounter a user who is harassing you or violating these Terms, please report them by contacting hello@jointhesio.com. We take reports seriously and will investigate and take appropriate action, which may include account suspension or termination.

9. Intellectual Property

The Thesio name, logo, app design, and all associated intellectual property are owned by Thesio and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not use our branding, trademarks, or design elements without our express written permission.

The App itself, including its code, interface, and matching algorithms, is proprietary. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our intellectual property except as required to use the App as intended.

10. Privacy

Your use of Thesio is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at jointhesio.com/privacy and within the App under Settings → About → Privacy Policy. Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using Thesio, you consent to the data practices described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Account Termination

By you: You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your profile and associated data will be permanently removed from our systems.

By us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion if we determine that you have violated these Terms, engaged in conduct harmful to other users or the platform, or for any other reason we deem appropriate. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you prior to termination unless the violation is severe.

12. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THESIO DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not guarantee that any matches or connections made through the App will result in professional relationships, employment, or any other outcome.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THESIO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

14. Apple-Specific Terms

These Terms are between you and Thesio, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. To the extent the App is accessed through the Apple App Store:

  • Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App

  • Apple is not responsible for any product liability claims relating to the App

  • Apple is not responsible for any claims that the App fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement

  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary

In the event of any conflict between these Terms and Apple's App Store Terms of Service, Apple's terms shall govern solely with respect to your use of the App Store.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this document. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the App and delete your account.
